The new Wide Glide® is a Dyna® Big Twin done up old-school chopper style - a low, stretched-out custom with drag bars and forward foot controls that give its rider a real fists-in-the-wind profile. The LED stop/turn/tail light combo and side-mounted license plate keep the chopped rear fender clean.

The Harley-Davidson Dyna family has its roots in the factory-custom revolution of the 1970s, and combines Big Twin performance with an extended FX front end. Dyna models deliver great handling and bold styling.

We don't care that you don't like the new looks. We don't like the old looks which is why we did not buy the old 05 or 07 models. Harley style department recognized that Frisco style choppers are hot now and gave us drag bars on dogbone risers with a chopped fender, side mounted liscence plate, and unpadded sissy bar with 180 rear tire. You're just jealous that the new one looks more bada$$ than the old one. You are stuck with the 72 month financing which you are still upside down on and can't trade in your 2005/2007 for the new one. We hear this type of sour grapes whining every year Harley updates it's models. Stfu!

i dont care that you like the new one cos i have a 97 with 10 inch risers and western bars and saddlebags with studs - and i think it looks waaay better than the new ones, the new one is too long and low i prefer the old bikes which are alot easier to throw around and better on the back roads-what the fuck is a harley doing with a 180 tyre anyway? it looks shit-i bet in a few years harley will go back to the 140 which is perfect for handling and looks-i love the gangly look of my bike its not trying to be cool but it is naturally-it has character and it is made out of good quality iron and sounds better too-old school anyday-thats my opinion anyway

    Looks cheap. Is cheap.
The Wide Glide used to top the Dyna models but now it's near the bottome of the list. Glad I got in while the gettin' was good. When the black out fad dies off, the real Wide Glides will still hold their value while the new models will not. Harley will recognize this and go back to the real deal.

I picked my 2010 wide glide up three weeks ago. I love the bike. I added vance and hines side shot exhaust with a screaming eagle intake. The bike handles super, sounds great, vibrates like the old school models. The black with the red flames looks old school. I wish more people hated the bike so I wouldn't have had to pay so much. Harley did a great job on this bike. I think more people like the bike than dislike it. I got my bike at Ray Price in Raleigh, NC. They treated me good and I will continue to give them my business.

    2010 Harley Wide Glide

Submitted by Francesco (not verified) on February 15, 2010 - 9:02pm.

    Hello,

Just came back from the dealer and say the 2010 Wide Glide for the first time in the flesh. In my opinion it simply does not look like a Wide Glide, rather a confused Fat Bob of sorts with a raked out front end. The rear grab rail is permanently attatched and looks very CHEAP, it just does not belong and cannot even be removed. I did like the black paint and flames paint, everything else just does not flow. I would rather purchase an 07' or 08' any day of the week, they just flow better and look more stylish. I'm sure the 2010 Wide Glide works great, but a bike should make you smile(Especially a Harley) everytime the garage door opens. Why is there no leather on the center of the tank? In it's place is a cheap looking fixture of sorts, gone are the classic Wide Glide touches that made it a classy, stylish, and cool ride. I know times are changing but I feel they could have done much better with the 2010 Wide Glide. Actually the best thing they did for the old Wide Glide resale value was to introduce the new Wide Glide, just my two cents. I love all bikes, taste is subjective and one should ride what they want......But I have to be honest.

    Cheers,

    Francesco

The old Wide Glide looks way better than the new one. Not even close really.
They should have named it something else for sure.
See how much the price dipped? That's the end result of making a cheap bike by cutting corners. Chrome is expensive, black paint isn't. Set em' up side by side and it becomes very apparent that the new one doesn't hold a candle to the old one.
Took all the class right out of the Wide Glide name. I agree with a previous post.... this will increase the resale value of the old Wide Glide without a doubt.

Submitted by Dave (not verified) on May 5, 2010 - 6:03am.

Just picked up my 2010 WG three weeks ago and don't want to ever come home when I take it out. This thing handles awesome with the 180 rear tire, lowered stance and the help of the drag bars over apes. This is my first Harley, previously only rode sport bikes and I would have never bought it if it looked like the old style with all that useless chrome, the bobtail fender, mini apes and old man seat. The old style was stuck in the 70's/80's and should have been left there. The balance of blacked out components and chrome is perfect on this bike. I get more looks and "nice bike" comments on this thing than anything I have ever owned. HD has to move forward and make things people want and that's what they are doing......!

Have one since Oct.09. Best purchase I ever made. New Rush pipes. Sounds like a beast. Detachable sissy bar for the co-pilot. Also makes it look better. Young boys and old men stare at redlights. Lots up tumbs-up signs. No middle fingers yet. Bike show over last weekend, seemed like half the women checked it out when parked (and I wasn't nearby, just watching from a distance). Love it. Will have it forever. Flame paintjob is cool throwback. BUT, can't mount saddlebags without moving the licence plate. I like it where it is, so no can do. Just put a bigger bag on the luggage rack.

I am in the process of buying a Harley. Previously a Yamaha R6 and R1 rider, I chose to convert to the Harley Family. I am stuck between a Street Bob and a Wide Glide. whist different, I think that looks is down to individual taste, however, the ride is what I am looking for feedback on. I have test ridden the Fat Bob but can't get hold of a Street or Dyna Wide. Any feedback? This is so complicated! I'm used to power and handling but also want something sexy, yet get suck with either these ape bar things or bicycle wheels! Don't mean to criticise anyone who has such accessories, but need help!!!!!

Great Bike, I've been riding for 50 years

Purchased the 2010 wideglide after riding a 02 Road king .
I was looking for a bike that had a light feel and the FXDWG filled that need.

The black and flame paint and blacked out engine with that sexy nostalgic low look are all bonuses.

Have Vance and Hines pipes which really opened the sound up. The 180 tire is what I would have put on anyway.

A great bike, and it's my ride .

I was taught that if you can say something nice then keep quite.

    My first harley

    IP
Submitted by Mark (not verified) on October 11, 2010 - 2:41pm.

When I first saw the pictures of the Wide Glide, I thought: 'looks like an oversized GN'. So when I wandered into Morgan and Wacker for a look I walked straight past it without even recognising it. It looks so different in the flesh. I thought, nooiice, thats one classy lookin' machine. So long story short, I'm the proud owner of my first harley. The black one.
Now this is my first HD. I come from a sports bike background. My last was an old ZX10. Not really a head down, bum up type, but she was fast, quick off the mark and you never scraped the pegs under 80km/h on the twisty bits. I'd like to keep my life and licence for a wee bit longer. So I made the change to help slow down. And wasn't I in for a suprise.
The stock exhaust is too low. I scrape that exhaust on every roundabout, every f@!kin' time. And the seat? I have to get off and go for a walk every 45 minutes or so. I'm 6'3 though, with most of my height in my legs. Any one with ducks disease probably wont have the same issues. And the exhaust note is too quiet. You'll be riding down the highway, wind whistling in your ears and thinking 'am I in fourth or sixth?'. No taco and no noise. you can't really get the feel through vibration because it does that at all speeds.
Those three things are the only issues I have. If you keep to the posted limits on the corners, you won't scrape all that often. Custom pipes are the way to go, I reckon. Kill two birds with one stone there. And the seat can be replaced. I can pretty much dump the clutch at the lights and the 180 rear is wide enough to grab hold of the road and blow away anything. They'll catch up eventually but in traffic, she's a beast.
The amount of customising you can do to these bikes is amazing. You can change ANYTHING on your ride to suit style and needs. Basically, if you're tall, you'll need to change a few things straight off the bat. She may be a bit unusual in stock, so if you don't like it, change it. I guess thats the beauty of HD's.

May be the biggest flop in the Harley line-up. The new Wide Glide doesn't hold a candle to the old Wide Glide. Thus the $4000 reduction in price. Definitely a poser bike if one was ever made. I see the new style is already losing value fast on Ebay and Cycle Trader, while the old style bikes have seen a resurgence in resale value as they become more rare and desirable.
