ASV C/5 Levers - Product Review
Riding a motorcycle is an enjoyable activity, and the pleasure can be enhanced when the motorcycle's controls are adjusted to fit the rider. While most modern motorcycles come equipped with adjustable levers, the range of adjustment may not match the rider's preferences. In addition, the stock levers may not offer the visual appeal that a custom adjustable lever set can.
The benefits of installing quality aftermarket adjustable levers go beyond mere appearance. When brake lever position is set correctly it will allow the rider to modulate brake and throttle input smoothly and accurately. Clutch operation will be much smoother with a properly positioned lever.
We had a chance to install and try out ASV C/5 levers recently on a Honda CBR954RR. The ASV C/5 levers feature a micro-reach adjuster with 1/32" adjustments and range of 1 1/2" to over 3 inches in 100 increments. This range exceeds all other levers I have seen to date.
Key Features
- Unbreakable design. In a crash all ASV levers are designed to pivot forward.
- CNC machined from 6061 aluminum alloy billet.
- High quality components and easily rebuilt.
- Designed for universal fit. Multiple bike applications with supplied bushings and tabs.
- Available colors, Black, gold or raw billet (silver)
- Standard and short lengths
- 5-year guarantee. Damage or break a lever and ASV will fix or replace it free.
- Made in the USA.
Installation
You must select the correct bushings and tabs for your motorcycle prior to installing the levers -- press in the appropriate bushings. Install the tabs using Loctite to secure the hex bolts.
Brake lever installation was very easy on the Honda CBR954RR. Simply remove the old lever and install the new one.
On the 954RR, clutch lever installation required disconnecting the clutch cable from the clutch arm, making sure to check clutch free play after installation.
Riding Impressions
The fit and finish of the CNC machined levers is excellent. The levers have a solid feel. The action is very smooth with the stainless steel pivot bushings. If you are an all-seasons rider, a few clicks will position the levers when you want them for different glove thicknesses. The curve of the levers provide a natural position for your fingers.
The MSRP is $125.00 per lever, which I consider good value when taking into account the quality, construction, appearance and warranty.
Summary
The ASV C/5 levers allow precise adjustment, providing the desired feel and control from the brake and clutch levers.
Motorcycle "fit" is something often overlooked by riders, and a pair of ASV C/5 levers will be money well spent—providing a custom look and pleasure on every ride.
