Restaurant Review: Sticky Chicken and Ribs in Brentwood, California

Easy to miss: Unassuming sign is easily overlooked - but this place is worth looking for.
Easy to miss: Unassuming sign is easily overlooked - but this place is worth looking for.
We had dinner at the Sticky Chicken & Ribs restaurant in Brentwood (near the Sacramento river delta) the other night. All I can say is: WOW! Great food, great service, reasonable prices, and casual surroundings.

The place was pretty busy for a Tuesday evening - shortly after we arrived, there was a big crowd, occupying most tables.

We ordered the "Sticky Chicken" dinner (a delectable dish made up of fried chicken with a sticky-sweet BBQ glaze), an old-fashioned burger, and a side of grilled zucchini.

The Sticky Chicken was awesome. Tender, moist, and tasty. The grilled zucchini was not your average fare: tender yet firm, perfectly seasoned, and mouth-watering. The burger was good too, fresh & tasty -- but I suspect that most people visit this restaurant for the BBQ offerings. Oh, yeah: the french fries are obviously home made and were perfectly prepared.

There are a bunch of awards and newspaper articles on display on the wall, and a few photos. One shows nearly two dozen leather-clad bikers lined up, smiling approvingly -- with a handwritten note at the bottom: "Fremont H.O.G. ~ Great Food!!"

Gathering crowd...: Busier than I expected at the time - and I was in for a big treat.

The verdict: Definitely worth stopping here on your next ride through the Delta area.

Owned by Gerald and Chris Hinkle, this is a family operation that won't disappoint. (Note: they have a location in Antioch, too!)
