Where's the Gear?
I'm getting onto 880 north from HWY 92 the other day and I see a new Yamaha R6 behind me. As the rider passes me I notice several things:
- Nice new bike, red windscreen and red Micron slip-on to match the bike.
- The rider is wearing a jacket, shorts, tennis shoes and NO GLOVES!!! Are you kidding me? Why does someone spend the money on a new bike and aftermarket stuff and not wear the proper gear?
Is it any wonder that insurance keeps going up, skin grafts are not cheap.
Please wear your gear at all times.

Careful... slippery slope!
Dude, I ride without gloves sometimes, on a quick trip somewhere.
But never shorts! At least I wear full-length jeans and heavy shoes...
To each his own! Socialized costs are the problem, not the perceived irresponsibility. The fact that costs of injuries are spread out across groups (via insurance or government-covered health care, or whatever) does not justify telling people how to live their lives. I'd prefer to see such social costs removed, rather than have to tell people how to behave.
