2006 Amador County Fair
I'm planning on going to the 2006 Amador County Fair in Plymouth (well, to be "fair", it is near my home). It's July 27th thru July 30th this year.
If you are looking for a place to go that weekend, it's a nice ride up highway 49 from Placerville or Sonora / Angels Camp, or up 16 from Sacramento area.
Unlike the typical big-county fair, it's a laid-back, mellow county fair, no big crowds, lots of small-town stuff (including the destruction derby and rodeo on the closing night of the fair.)

Heading out of Salinas California on Highway 68 towards Monterey you will see the sign for Reservation / River Road. Reservation Road goes north into Marina and Highway 1 and River Road heads South along the hills into the Salinas valley between the farm land and the Monetrey County wine country.
River Road is a relaxing ride for motorcycle riders of all skill levels. Normally the ride starts with cool temperatures in Salinas and will get hotter the farther south you go.
Victorian House

Victorian "fixer": Victorian located off River Road on Foothill Road. There has been some cleanup done to this old house however it does not look like anything has been done for a couple of years.
Eddie Rickenbacker's Motorcycle Collection
Eddie Rickenbacker's Bar is located at the corner of Minna and 2nd Street (South of Mission St) in the financial district of San Francisco. They serve excellent drinks, have a good selection of beers on tap and the food is above average for a bar.

Highway 1 from Carmel South
One of my favorite sections of Highway 1 is from Carmel going south towards Big Sur. The road is in very good condition and depending on when you ride there can be little traffic. If you are attending the MotoGp races or are in the Salinas/Monterey area this is a great ride.
From Salinas I ride Highway 68 towards Monterey. Just before the entrance to Laguna Seca Raceway you can make a left turn onto Laureles Grade (G20) this will take you on a nice twisty ride over the mountain into Carmel Valley. At the end of Laureles Grade you are at the junction of Carmel Valley Road (G16). Turning right will take you west to Carmel. This route will bypass most of the Monterey/Carmel traffic.

Virginia City is an old mining town that is located about 25 miles Southeast of Reno, Nevada. After a quick ride down Highway 395 South you reach the junction of Highway 341 East. Highway 341 is in very good condition and winds up over the mountain to Virginia City at about 6200 elevation. The road is twisty but should be a nice ride for riders of all skill levels. Police patrol the town so watch your speed and noise levels.
Most of the original buildings have been maintained in their original glory.

Ride Report - Street Vibrations - Reno
Street Vibrations is a Harley-Davidson focused event - if you love Harleys, you'll love this event, held annually in Reno, Nevada in September (it's Sept. 20-24 in 2006).
Downtown Reno is closed to automobile traffic, only motorcycles are allowed in to most of the streets. I can't recall seeing more Harleys in one place -- I quickly lost count while walking through downtown.
